Inspiration from WCSF
I’m watching the livestream of Wordcamp San Francisco (WCSF) 2013 as a I write this. Watching Matt Mullenweg‘s presentation “State of the Word” this morning provided us with a great overview of what WordPress has achieved, and where its going in the near future. There’s much to be excited about, but what really got me thinking was the information matt provided about WordPress.tv. If you’ve never seen WordPress.tv, every recorded presentation from a wordcamp, gets added to WordPress.tv. Here are a couple of ideas.
The first idea is playlists. For a single topic, one would create a list of links to those talks on wordpress.tv – include the title, speaker, the wordcamp it was given at. The way to create these would be to create these as a post on your blog. Not only would it help others, but also your future self when you need a refresher on a topic
The second idea, which builds on the use of playlists, is a Wordcamp Remix. This would be a great way for local meetups to reuse WordPress.tv content. Within a short period of time, it would be possible to set up an event and create tracks of content. Since you’re dealing with just the local meetup, or even a smaller select group of people, you wouldn’t have to worry abut a large space.
