About
Hi, I’m Andrew
Welcome to my distinguished corner of the Web. Thanks for stopping by.
What I Do
I’m a Software Developer and Consultant that helps businesses, to create tools for managing their web content. My software development career was born in 1999 in server-side development and system administration, as the Web took the world by storm. PHP is my favorite and best language. While PHP is my preference, I’m a proponent of using the right language/tool for the job. If you’re not sure how your project is made, get in touch.
With over 20 years of experience in software development, I possess a breadth and depth of knowledge and skills, for architecting and developing web applications. My strength is on the backend, but I can work throughout the entire stack. I can help you develop systems to manage your data, and write code to interact with it.
It’s my belief that great engineering is about more than the code we write. It’s about the trade-offs we evaluate, and the choices we make. I’m passionate about technology and creating software, and helping others do the same.
Who I am
I’m a guy that loves the web. To me, its the technology that best represents humanity’s potential. In my opinion, the world needs a resurgence of people having their own websites. It’d be fantastic to see more people claim their own corner of the Web, to express themselves. So take a look around. Hopefully, you’ll see something that interests or inspires you.
I’ve been studying productivity, and what it means for knowledge work. As someone who studied Management Information Systems (MIS) at university, this is a great intersection of professional and personal interest. I’ve developed my own personal knowledge management system using Obsidian and Todoist. Need help developing your own productivity system? I can consult with you, to help increase your productivity.
I enjoy reading books, watching films, and scripted TV shows. It’s the human-crafted narrative, and journey of characters that provide such a rewarding experience. I’ve learned to speak some Spanish, but have more to go before I can speak it easily with native speakers. Learning Japanese is also of great interest. As someone of Irish heritage, I’d love to learn the Irish language. It’s currently endangered, and hope to help find ways to preserve and grow the Irish language one day. Essentially, I’m an aspiring polyglot.
Finally, music has been a through line in my life. I grew up on rock n’ roll, folk, hard rock, and alternative. As an 80’s kid, the music of the 1980s is the best. Lately, I’m on a synthwave / retrowave music kick.
