Welcome to my distinguished corner of the Web. Thanks for stopping by. I love the web. To me, its the technology that best represents humanity’s potential. However, over the years, social media has unfortunately caused a significant reduction in personal websites. I’d love to see a return to personal websites. It’d be fantastic to see more people claim their own corner of the Web, to express themselves. So take a look around. Hopefully, you’ll see something that interests or inspires you.
What I Do
and I’m a Software Engineer that helps businesses manage their web content. My software development career was born in 1999 in server-side development and system administration, as the Web took the world by storm. PHP is my favorite and best language, but I’m strong proponent of using the right language/tool for the job.
With over 20 years of experience in software development, I possess a breadth and depth of knowledge and skills for designing and developing web applications. My strength is on the backend, but I can work throughout the entire stack. I strive to architect and develop robust software solutions to solve problems, and empower people. In addition to developing software, I enjoy speaking at events and writing articles.
Great engineering is about more than the code we write. Passing on ones’ knowledge and values to the next generation is arguably more important. Mentoring is a responsibility for any senior engineer. I’m passionate about technology and creating software, and helping others do the same.
Who I am
I grew up as a California kid, went to CSULB, then started my career. I continued my career in Seattle. In 2019, I became a New Yorker. New York City is my forever home, and have no wish to move anywhere else. That said, I would love to travel around the world.
I like watching films and scripted TV shows. Watching a story as it unfolds is a wonderful experience. I’ve learned to speak some Spanish, started ASL. Also, I’d love to learn Irish, and help find ways to preserve and grow the Irish language one day. Essentially, I’m an aspiring polyglot. I’m trying to read more books. Science Fiction, Fantasy are my favorite genres. Music has been a throughline in my life. I grew up on rock n’ roll, folk, and alternative. Lately, I’m on a synthwave / retrowave music kick.
